When I installed the Xtrons Infotainment system four years ago I believed it was the perfect Skoda Yeti stereo upgrade.
Well I was wrong! For me, this Pioneer SPH-10BT is.
As it happens I was perfectly happy with the Xtrons
Then, last week, the 7" motorised screen stuck half way while it was on its way out. Nothing I did made any difference.
And a nagging voice in my head kept saying: 'bin it, bin it, don't try to fix it, bin it'
And I gave in and I binned it.
I'm definitely a fan of single DIN head units with removable faceplates, like my Xtrons had.
Double DIN units seem like sitting ducks to me - too tempting for all the low-lifes 👊
And, like my Xtrons I prefer to have Android powering my head unit, especially good for maps, navigation etc.So with these prerequisites in mind I set about chasing down my next Infotainment system.
And there it was...
a new, innovative idea from Pioneer: the SPH-10BT

An evening of reviews later and I ordered it.
It arrived fast...
So what's special about it?
- built-in robust swivel phone cradle embossed with 'Pioneer'
- detachable faceplate with protective case also embossed with 'Pioneer'
- Android (and iPhone) compatible
- works as a stand-alone radio or music player via USB or Bluetooth
- also works using the Pioneer Smart Sync App
- separate microphone for calls is included
- USB Quick Charge
- FLAC via USB (important to me)
- parking sensors input (more about these further on)
- steering wheel controls input
- OBD2 connector support
- tremendous sound quality when using the Smart Sync App
And so much more I'd be here all day 😰
Let's get installing...
The phone cradle can be pushed in and hidden, or not - it's up to you
It swivels, too.
Fuse is included.
And important!
And out of nowhere I have already got finger prints all over the phone cradle 😡
These WILL be wiped off before the end of the day, believe me!
Now let's update the firmware via USB.
I already downloaded it from the Pioneer website this morning.
BOOM!
And so now my mobile, with its stored music library or streaming App like Spotify, etc. IS the stereo system.
Navigation is off course Google or whatever App I choose.
Message alerts. Phone calls.
Everything going from my phone into the Pioneer
And the sound is truly amazing👌
I am using my phone to take the pictures so I can't show the App.

It's now four days later.
Pioneer produces a parking sensor kit - ND-PS1 - especially for the SPH-10BT
I ordered it two days ago. It arrived this morning.I have installed it on my Yeti.
I didn't take any pictures of the installation thanks to me being in a mad rush to meet someone this afternoon.
I'm so very happy with my new infotainment system 😃

It's now 11 months later and I figured out how to take a screenshot while my phone is using the Pioneer Smart Sync App...
