Does Carista Work With A Škoda Yeti?

Positive reviews for the Carista OBD2 diagnostics scanner are plentiful.

It claims to work with a Skoda Yeti. But, does it?

So I download the Carista App from Google Play Store - it's free.

I install it on my Yeti's infotainment system, but it can work from a mobile or tablet just the same

And it is both Android and Apple compatible.

I already own an OBD2 Bluetooth scanner that I use with my Torque App.

Carista's website has information on using a non Carista OBD2: some work, some do not.

Mine does not 🤨

Okay. I find it online and order it.

It arrives fast.

Any changes I make to my Yeti via Carista remain, even if I delete the App

According to Carista. Good.

So let's see what happens with this thing connected. If anything.

The red power-on light... comes ON

Now, I will turn my ignition on. And...

Oh no! What's this?

I click Show Code and it says there are CAN Network Gateway errors, which means nothing to me 😕

I'll look it up later.

And it looks like Carista will allow me to resent these faults anyway. But I will only do that once I know what they are.

My Torque App has always told me that there are no faults with my Yeti.

So either Carista or Torque is a liar! 😡

Right now I am eager to make some customisations to my Yeti

And clicking any one of these brings up a whole raft of options:

(for the purpose of this post I will just select one customisation option to see what happens).

So what'll it be then?

Actually, there could be no doubt as to which option to try and enable first, could there?

Instrument needle sweep on startup, like motorbikes and sports cars 😎

I turn my ignition off then on, and...

BOOM!

A full needle sweep every time I turn on my ignition, just like superbikes, Ferraris etc.

My gauges are not cracked, by the way, it's just the camera flash.

So, okay, my non Carista OBD2 adaptor didn't work and I had to buy the official one. 

But after doing that, the very first customisation I try has worked

There are so many options with this Carista that I will need to test them out over the weekend.

And I will search online about those two CAN Network Gateway errors.
