Projecting 'Yeti' onto the ground every time I open the doors is cool.
Let's install the projectors.
I order online and they arrive fast.
If you would also like to watch a YouTube video of me installing these LED door projector lights the link for it is at the end of this post.
Let's get installing.
The plastic feels strong and thick, so a good sign so far.
I'll use my trusty plastic tool to gently prise out the original light...
Now let's connect one of these new projector lights and see what happens...
Looks like good times.😃
And a check of my Yeti's instrument panel shows no warning messages
But now I see a different problem: these new lights are not going to just pop in.These two tabs on the door card are preventing that from happening...
- put back my original light and throw these things in the bin (and send a ‘spicy’ email to the supplier!)
- make some sort of gasket out of double-sided foam tape and live with how it’ll look
- cut away those two tabs and fit these projector lights flush (there’ll be no going back if I do that)
I hear the sensible voice in my head loud and clear
'NEVER cut a hole in the Yeti. Ever.'
Technically, though, I won't be cutting any holes, will I?
Just cut off those two tabs.
Out comes my hobby knife...
Well there is no going back now 😰
I cannot locate my PE-Foam tape that I have used to secure:
So I'll use a mere dab, and only a dab of Super Glue😮
Let's compare old original light to new LED projector light...
And door clearance...
And finally, projection...
I am happy.
Thanks for visiting.
And feel free to stay tuned for more Yeti modifications I have planned.
